T.S. Bounty Sea Cadets are school-going boys and girls from Grade 6 to Grade 12 who enjoy having “Serious Fun” whilst learning leadership, self-discipline and maritime-orientated skills as a voluntary extra-mural activity. Any youngster irrespective of race, gender, or religion is welcome.

T.S Bounty currently has openings for new recruits and anyone interested is encouraged to contact us via the methods in the contacts page.

T.S. Bounty is a land-based Training Ship located in Vereeniging on the banks of the Vaal river and provides a safe space with competent instructors at which training can take place.

Training takes place on Saturdays. There are also regular weekend "sleepdowns" where cadet training runs from a Friday evening through to Sunday Afternoon, and cadets sleep on the base and engage in various fun activities. There are also activities and competions arranged between other training ships through the year.

The cadets wear a uniform and are subject to naval style discipline, whilst always having fun. Yet the training is not only about the maritime world; in all cases, whatever the actual skill being imparted, the less tangible values such as discipline, self- respect, self-esteem, self-worth, self- confidence, self-identity, resilience, attitude, successful teamwork, leader- ship and citizenship underlie the training. These values are at the core of the Sea Cadets' ethos, and will translate into whatever field of endeavour the Cadets progress to on reaching adulthood.

The Sea Cadets also teach the necessary knowledge and provides practical skills underwritten by accredited courses necessary for those who wish to follow a career at sea within the maritime industry.
